Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China
CambridgeSeven was selected to design the exhibitions for the first purpose-built children’s museum in China (also the largest, with over 100,000SF of gallery space). The museum exhibition was designed in parallel with the architecture, creating an exciting and dynamic space. Colorful sculpted mezzanines respond to the undulating glass facade and showcase the exhibit galleries. Architectural-sized adventures are visible to passers-by outside. Chinese culture is celebrated throughout the museum. The experience is divided into two wings, one focused primarily on exploring culture, the other on investigating STEM learning. Galleries explore topics as diverse as the local Mongolian culture, dinosaurs unearthed in the Gobi Desert, and early Chinese inventions.
