We always look forward to celebrating the year-end holidays as a CambridgeSeven family in recognition of the hard work and contributions of our entire team. This year, given the extraordinary hardship and challenges facing so many in our community, we’d rather highlight and contribute to the incredible work of two local non-profits that feed and uplift thousands of our neighbors who may not have as much to celebrate this year. Food for Free and The Greater Boston Food Bank are responding to the reality of increased food insecurity experienced by thousands in our community.
Food for Free’s innovative program rescues nearly 2 million pounds of unused food each year that would otherwise go to waste and distributes it to underserved communities that lack easy access to fresh fruit and vegetables. For 40 years, this Cambridge-based organization has tackled short-term hunger, long-term food insecurity and poor nutrition while reducing food waste.
As the largest hunger relief organization in New England, The Greater Boston Food Bank works equally hard to end hunger here in Eastern Massachusetts. Currently feeding more than 142,000 neighbors a month across a variety of outreach programs, they are tirelessly working toward their goal to distribute enough food to provide three healthy meals a day for anyone at risk from food insecurity.
Please join us in donating to either of these organizations or your local food bank and make this a season of celebrating community.
From all of us at CambridgeSeven, we wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
