Last week we had the honor to meet (virtually, of course), the recipient of this year’s CambridgeSeven STEAM Scholarship at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS). Jaadyyah Shearrion, CRLS volleyball captain and robotics team member, will study Computer Science at UMass Boston where she hopes to create apps, video games and everything in between. Jaadyyah and her classmates mark an important (virtual) milestone tonight when they graduate from CRLS.
The annual STEAM Scholarship Program for students at CRLS was established in 2018 by the principals of CambridgeSeven to grant a $5,000 scholarship to a deserving senior pursuing a college education in one of the STEAM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. To qualify for this scholarship, the student must be the first in his or her family to attend a 4-year college, a full-time student working towards an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university and committed to excel in one of the STEAM fields.
Previous winners include Sagyan Aryal, 2019, studying computer science at UMass Amherst Honors College and Soliana Yebio, 2018, studying engineering at UMASS Lowell. Both Sagyan and Soliana, recipients in pre-COVID times, were able to join us in the office for small celebrations of their achievements.
We are terrifically proud of this group of scholars and look forward to our continued partnership with the Friends of Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
