The Ames Hotel

Boston, MA

The historic 1889 Ames Building, designed by Boston’s Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge, is the second tallest bearing wall building in the United States. The Ames underwent a complete interior renovation to convert the former office building into one of Boston’s most beautiful boutique hotels. Normandy Real Estate Partners commissioned CambridgeSeven to perform the historic restoration of the building with the Rockwell Group as the interior designer. The hotel features 115 guestrooms, a restaurant, bar/lounge and a new lobby. Historic elements of the building, including the lobby’s tile vaulted ceiling, the interior stairway and the building exterior, have been fully restored to their original splendor.
