MBTA Red Line – Fields Corner Station

Boston, MA

Fields Corner Station is a major intermodal station which serves as a transfer point between the Boston subway’s Red Line and several bus routes. Additionally, it provides direct ‘T’ access from Dorchester’s commercial center to the greater Boston community. Field’s Corner Station required restructuring to bring the buses to grade, renovating Charles Park for accessibility, and creating accessible, covered routes and clearly identified entries from both main access streets. It also involved the insertion of a new fare lobby at grade below the existing Red Line track and platform, new vertical circulation to meet ADA requirements, and the design of canopy roof structures to cover the newly extended platforms.
